Above all, trust in the slow work of God.

We are quite naturally impatient in everything

to reach the end without delay.

We would like to skip the intermediate stages.

We are impatient of being on the way to something

unknown, something new.

And yet it is the law of progress

that it is made by passing through some stages of instability-

and that it may take a very long time.

 

And so I think it is with you.

Your ideas mature gradually- let them grow,

let them shape themselves, without undue haste.

as though you could be today what time-

(that is to say, grace and circumstances acting on your own good will)

will make of you tomorrow.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was a renowned French philosopher, paleontologist and geologist famous for his unique theory of evolution of man. He was born in 1881 in Orcines, France, and died in1955 at age 73.

His theory of evolution threw light on a social perspective which stated that man was evolving mentally and socially towards a spiritual unity. Brian Swimme wrote “Teilhard was one of the first scientists to realize that the human and the universe are inseparable. The only universe we know about is a universe that brought forth the human.”

He was known to possess a high intellect in various fields including spirituality and science.

Teilhard has had a profound influence on the New Age movement and has been described as “perhaps the man most responsible for the spiritualization of evolution in a global and cosmic context”.
